Terms of Service
Last updated: October 26, 2026
These terms apply to your use of Mawaid (“we,” “us”) on mawaidnj.com and in the Mawaid app. By creating an account or using Mawaid, you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Mawaid. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle your information.
What Mawaid is, and isn’t
Mawaid is a marketplace that helps people planning events find halal caterers and send them booking requests. We provide the platform only.
We are not a caterer, and we are not a party to any booking. Any agreement for food or services is directly between the buyer and the caterer. We don’t prepare, deliver, or guarantee any food or event, and we don’t process payments. Pricing, deposits, and payment are arranged between the buyer and the caterer.
Accounts
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
- Give us accurate information and keep your sign-in details secure.
- You’re responsible for activity on your account.
- An account is either a buyer account or a caterer account. To both plan an event and list a business, use separate accounts.
Booking requests
A booking request is a request, not a confirmed booking. A booking is confirmed only when the caterer accepts it. When a caterer accepts, the buyer’s contact details are shared with that caterer, and the caterer’s contact details are shared with the buyer, so you can finalize arrangements directly.
Please be honest about your event details, and only accept requests you can fulfill. A caterer who accepts a booking is responsible for honoring it.
Cancellations
Buyers can cancel without charge before a caterer accepts, and within 24 hours after acceptance. After that, the cancellation policy shown on the caterer’s listing applies. Any cancellation fee is set by the caterer and settled directly between the buyer and the caterer. Mawaid does not charge or collect it.
Halal information
Caterers describe their own halal sourcing and certification on their listings, and may attach a certificate or name a certifying body. We don’t inspect, verify, or certify any caterer’s halal practices or documents. If halal compliance matters to you, ask the caterer about their sourcing and certification before you book. Caterers must not misrepresent their halal status.
Caterer listings and content
If you list a business, you’re responsible for everything on your listing — descriptions, service areas, prices, menus, photos, and certification details — and for keeping it accurate and current. Only upload photos and content you have the right to use.
You give Mawaid a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host and display your listing content on the site and in the app so that it can be shown to buyers. You keep ownership of your content, and this license ends when you remove the content or your listing, except for copies that are part of routine backups.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Post false, misleading, or unlawful content, or impersonate anyone
- Send fake, abusive, or spam booking requests
- Use another person’s contact details for anything other than the booking
- Interfere with, scrape, or attempt to break into the site or app
- Use Mawaid in any way that breaks the law
Suspension and termination
You can stop using Mawaid at any time, and you can ask us to delete your account at the address below. We may unpublish a listing, suspend an account, or remove content if we believe these terms have been broken or if it’s needed to protect other users or Mawaid.
Third-party services
Mawaid relies on other services, such as Google and Apple for sign-in and Apple and Firebase for notifications. Your use of those services is subject to their own terms.
Disclaimers
Mawaid is provided “as is” and “as available.” We don’t promise that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any listing, caterer, or buyer will be accurate, reliable, or suitable for you. We don’t guarantee that you’ll receive booking requests or find a caterer. You are responsible for deciding whether to book or accept, and for confirming details such as ingredients, allergens, pricing, and halal practices directly with the other party.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Mawaid is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from a booking, an event, food or services provided by a caterer, or a dispute between a buyer and a caterer. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to $100. Some places don’t allow certain limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Mawaid after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.
